Unbelievable Acts of Grace

In my weekly calls with Coach Dayton, he recommended Cheryl Richardson's Unmistakable Acts of Grace.

We'd been talking about the amazing 'coincidences' that happen to support us in both our dreams and daily life.

Reading from a chapter on how intending to see Grace show up in you life, you create recognition of how it does. Even the words Grace are seen or heard more often.

I was scanning my weekend for evidence of this. I thought of how on Friday, during the time Coach Dayton and I were speaking, I had heard the ringing of my land line. Later, in picking up my voice mail, the message told of a huge delivery of fabric and other materials donated by a parent who was moving out of state. Working with 80 preschoolers in a peace education program using the expressive arts, a donation such as this was an amazing gift.

Returning to school on Monday, I discovered bags upon bags and rolls upon rolls of gorgeous fabric, trim and yarn. There was more than enough for my program, the other teachers and even the other school across the street. Just looking at the abundance of this offering brought up great joy. The children responded to this treasure with ecstacy, playfulness, delight and freedom. They played in the treasure all morning.

Out of curiosity, I'd wondered where the donation had originated. I'd asked several teachers who had only known it was from a parent. In finding the director, we laughed over the good fortune of receiving such a bounty. It was at that moment on the bus, that I replayed our conversation. I'd been too in a rush to hear thoroughly.

Her answer to my inquiry of which parent had made the donation was, "It came from Grace. Her kids went to school here ten years ago. You remember Grace." And in that moment, remembering, I woke up, hearing my own semi unconscious answer, "Of course, it would come from Grace."
